A film adaptation of Sony’s post-apocalyptic action adventure, Days Gone, is currently in production by Sony PlayStation Productions. Outlander‘s Sam Heughan is in talks for the lead role, and Oscar-nominated scribe Sheldon Turner is slated to write the film. No release window has been given at this time.

Days Gone is an action-adventure video game developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in April 2019. Set in a post-apocalyptic Oregon two years after the start of a global pandemic, Days Gone follows a former motorcycle club member, Deacon St. John, as strives for survival against mutated, predatory humans in search of his lover.
Actor Sam Heughan, best known for his role as Jamie Fraiser in the Starz drama series Outlander, is in talks to play DeaconHeughan will play Deacon St. John. Some of his notable film credits include roles in When the Starlight Ends, The Spy Who Dumped Me, Bloodshot, and SAS: Red Notice, and he is slated to star in several upcoming films as well, such as Everest by Doug Liman and It’s All Coming Back to Me by Jim Strouse.
Jennifer Klein and Sheldon Turner are set to produce the film for PlayStation Productions alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
Days Gone is one of several film projects Sony PlayStation Productions has in the works. The studio was founded to facilitate the production of films and media based on some of the most popular PlayStation series.
Some of the current projects include a Twisted Metal TV series starring Anthony Mackie and Neve Campbell, which will be released for Peacock, as well as a series based on The Last of Us with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey coming to HBO. Other projects include adaptations of Ghosts of Tsushima, God of War, Gran Turismo, and more.
