David Dastmalchian (Dune) goes into the underworld of horror with Late Night With the Devil, as reported by Variety. The indie film is currently shooting in Australia.

Australian directing duo Colin and Cameron Cairnes (100 Blood Acres) is their second project under a multi-picture deal with Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi. Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, Mat Govoni, Adam White, and John Molloy are producing. Rami Yasin and David Dastmalcian are executive-producing the horror film. Cinetic has rights for North America, and AGC International has the rest of the world.

The David Dastmalchian horror movie follows a live broadcast talk show in 1977. As anything in the genre does, everything in the seemingly simple setting goes horribly wrong.

Late Night With the Devil is aiming for a 2023 release.

From Superheroes to Horror, David Dastmalchian, the Ultimate Character Actor

Beyond the indie horror film, David Dastmalchian has made a name for himself as a character actor. Typically, he has played odd characters like Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, and Paul Dano. He also played Polka-Dot Man, making him only one of the many weird pieces to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. While in that DC film, he is better known on the Marvel side as Kurt in the Ant-Man movies.

Plenty of high-profile projects are coming up for the actor. For horror, David Dastmalchian will be in Last Voyage of the Demeter and an adaption of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman. Outside the genre, he will be in Christopher Nolan’s stacked cast for Oppenheimer, Boston Strangler, and the comedy Girls Will Be Girls 2012.
