Early Thursday, The Outsiders, a Stockholm-based indie studio, took to their social media platforms to officially announce the cancellation of their debut title Darkborn.

Their post on Twitter and Instagram stated the following:

Unfortunately, the team behind Darkborn didn’t give a clear reason for the cancellation. However, they did end the post with a somewhat positive note. “We have been working on something else. On something new. Something awesome. Something we really love. We look forward to being able to share it all with you very very soon,” the post finishes.

At this time, there’s no telling what this secret project is, but it is clear that The Outsiders will alert its fans soon. Hopefully, fans respond as enthusiastically as they did to Darkborn’s official reveal.

Darkborn was revealed last spring; first as Archenemy, then Project Wight, before it came to settle on the official title. Set in a horrific land full of Vikings, barbarians, and monsters, Darkborn put the player in the shoes of the monster. Starting off as a baby, the game was said to follow the creature as it grew in size and into its beastly power.
