According to a new tech analysis from Digital Foundry, it looks like Dark Souls Remastered is not going to be a simple port on Nintendo Switch in comparison with the original game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

That was all but a given, considering the others ports that have been shipped on Switch thus far, and also looking at the specs the console is quite honestly not so distant, in terms of raw power, from the older gen platforms.

Interestingly, though, Dark Souls Remastered is running at a 1920×1080 resolution, which is way higher than the original 1024×720, of course in the TV mode. The portable mode is already been said to be running at 720p.

On top of that, while the currently available footage doesn’t reveal any particular changes in terms of textures and assets’ quality, it seems there are “extra pockets of shade” that might be revealing an improvement in the ambient occlusion.

Dark Souls Remastered is launching on May 25 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
