Actor Dan Stevens has a new project ahead of him. According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Dan Stevens has been cast in a vital role for Hulu’s limited series, Immigrant. The upcoming streaming series features Kumail Nanjiani in the starring role. However, Nanjiani will also serve as an executive producer for Immigrant alongside his wife, Emily V. Gordon, and writer Robert Siegel.

Immigrant is a true story, which is based on the life of Somen “Steve” Banerjee. Banerjee, who will be played by Kumai Nanjiani, is the Indian-American entrepreneur who started Chippendales. The Hulu series is set to explore the dark, comedic, and insane story surrounding the creation of this male revue and its rise to becoming a cultural phenomenon.

Dan Stevens has joined the cast of Immigrant to play the role of Banerjee’s partner, Paul Snider. Despite being a hustler and a schmoozer, Snider forms a partnership with Banerjee, and together the duo create Chippendales and make it a cultural institution.

So far, the rest of the cast for Immigrant will also include Murray Bartlett and Annaleigh Ashford in the main cast with Quentin Plair, Andrew Rannells, and Nicola Peltz in recurring or guest star roles.

As an actor, Dan Stevens gained wide recognition as one of the original stars of Downton Abbey. His performance on this British series won him an award from the Screen Actors Guild back in 2013. However, some may instead recognize him from his role as the Beast in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast or from his role as David Haller in the FX series Legion. Stevens has also acted in a number of stage productions and served as the narrator for dozens of audiobooks.
