One of the founders of Rockstar Games might be making a comeback. Video gaming legend Dan Houser has opened a new studio that goes by the name of Absurd Ventures in Games under the UK’s Companies House website.
Dan Houser’s Return to Video Games?
The new company is planting its roots in Cheshire, England. Coupled with the same address as Oakwood Corporate Secretary LTD, Houser’s new studio is already gearing for proper inception. According to the Companies House page on Absurd Ventures in Games, only two officers are on the list. Oakwood is evidently under the Secretary position, while Houser’s role is the Director (it also lists his occupation as Producer and Creative Director). Its nature of business reads “Ready-made interactive leisure and entertainment software development” under the company’s overview.
In the Filing History tab, the company was incorporated on June 23, 2021. It was only just last night and today that French publication Rockstar Mag and users on GTAForums unveiled the revelation. While nothing is definite with these findings, it could mean a new future for the former boss of Rockstar Games.
Dan Houser and his brother Sam founded Rockstar Games with Terry Donovan and Jaime King back in December of 1998. While Dan worked on producing titles, he also became the studio’s head writer, composing multiple best-selling franchises. From the eccentric Bully and Grand Theft Auto series to the award-winning Red Dead Redemption experiences, a lot of video game memories were made from Rockstar Games and Houser’s writing.
He went on an extended breather in early 2019 and officially departed from Rockstar Games in March 2020. He was with the company for 21 years. Since then, there hasn’t been much in the news about Dan until now, though it’s hard to tell what will come from Absurd Ventures in Games down the line. At this time, he has given no official word on the new company.
