Sebastian Stepien, the head writer for the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077  and one of the three creative directors on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is officially leaving developer CD Projekt Red to join Blizzard Entertainment.

Stepien’s LinkedIn page has confirmed that he is now a creative director at Blizzard Entertainment after a 12-year tenure with CD Projekt Red. In addition to serving as a creative director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Stepien also worked on the entire Witcher franchise at large.

In August of 2018, it was confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077, while missing some assets and in need of fine-tuning, was completely playable from start to finish. At this point, Sebastian Stepien was probably finished with his work on the project and decided to become a part of Blizzard Entertainment to pursue something new. Many speculate that he is now working on Blizzard’s Diablo 4.

Cyberpunk 2077 is aiming for a current generation release in terms of consoles, and the release probably won’t be affected by Stepien’s departure from the CD Projekt Red team. A lengthy gameplay demo that was played behind-closed-doors at last year’s E3 was finally made public back in August of 2018 and impressed the masses.

The demo featured looks at character creation, mission structure, dialogue options, combat, open-world gameplay, and driving. The full demonstration can be viewed below:

The addition of Stepien to the Blizzard Entertainment team may be a huge asset to the developer, seeing as they had a rocky BlizzCon last year that lacked an announcement of Diablo 4 that many fans were banking on, and instead unveiled plans for a Diablo mobile game.
