What CD Projekt Has in Store: Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel and More

CD Projekt investors have confirmed during a special event that a variety of projects are currently in the works for the developer, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 currently codenamed “Project Orion.” Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 20 million copies worldwide as of September 2022, most likely bolstering the popularity of its spin-off anime series Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

Edgerunners-inspired content was added as an update to Cyberpunk 2077 shortly after the release of the anime, and the post by CD Projekt reconfirmed that the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC is still set for release next year.

So far, the only description for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel reads as follows:

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that will prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe.

Other than the news of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, the post included more information on four other projects by CD Projekt. These include Project Sirius, described as “an innovative take on The Witcher universe telling an unforgettable story for existing Witcher fans and new audiences”; Project Polaris, a “story-drive open-world RPG on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt; and Project Canis Majoris, a “story-driven, single-player open-world RPG set in The Witcher universe.”

Both Project Sirius and Project Polaris are currently in pre-production and will be developed by The Molasses Flood and CD Projekt RED, respectively, with Polaris confirmed to be the start of a new Witcher trilogy. Project Canis Majoris will be developed by a third-party studio consisting of ex-Witcher veterans. The company recently wrapped up pre-production on The Witcher 4.

Finally, CD Projekt teased that more information on their upcoming new IP, called Project Hadar, is currently in the concept phase.
