In the eye of the storm around rushed video games, CD Projekt Red stands tall eagerly fixing and updating Cyberpunk 2077. Launching to very lackluster praise from fans on all different platforms, the game definitely was not what some expected from such a revered developer. From the countless crashes, bugs, and even the unplayable state on last-gen systems; CD Projekt Red is staying committed to upgrading the title to a suitable standard. A few days ago, however, even more trouble started brewing after CD Projekt Red issued a warning to mod users. Stating that some mods could take advantage of remote code execution and hack unsuspecting players’ PCs. Finally, Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated with a hotfix to prevent mods from allowing this very thing.
Hotfix 1.12 is now available on PC!
This update addresses the vulnerability that could be used as part of remote code execution (including save files):– Fixed a buffer overrun issue.– Removed/replaced non-ASLR DLLs. pic.twitter.com/LAkBfVpnXf

If the replies to their hotfix tweet are of any indication, Cyberpunk 2077 still has a long way to go. With the 1.1 patch having only been released just a week ago, fans are still running into quest breaking glitches. Even though they’ve added more performance upgrades to allow for smoother frame rates, it pales in comparison to what modders have been able to achieve. Thankfully with the risk and fear around mods having finally been disabled, fans can now take full advantage.
Mods like Cyber Engine Tweaks and autonomous reshade for HDR support makes the game run smoother and look so much better. Even most of the gameplay mods are vast improvements that make the base game that much more enjoyable. Things like better vehicle handling and better minimap mods are perfect upgrades that feel like obvious inclusions to the base game. With a multiplayer mode, free DLC, and mods coming out daily, the future of Night City will hopefully be bustling with new content, modded or not, to explore.
