President Adam Kicinski provided more details about Cyberpunk 2077 during a recent CD Projekt RED financial presentation for the fiscal year 2017, also discussing some gameplay and the possible efforts of the company on Nintendo Switch.

First of all, Kicinski said he’d “terribly” like to tell us something more about Cyberpunk 2077, but that we’ll have to wait a bit more because he doesn’t like doing the announcement of an announcement.

“Just before the show,” anyway, we’ll learn more about what CDPR is working on for its E3 exhibition, so that won’t come as an absolute surprise, hopefully. On top of that, here’s some tidbit about what Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be like.

According to the Polish developer, the game is “very advanced” in terms of technology, which means what’s under the hood is next generation-ready. This can only fuel rumors the title might be a cross-generational effort i.e. releasing on PlayStation 5 and next-Xbox.

Talking about gameplay, there will be an in-game character creation tool we’ll need to pass through before starting the story; thanks to that tool we’ll also be able to choose a class of ours, as it was in the original tabletop game. Also, it’ll be a story-driven single-player RPG experience as it was The Witcher 3 back in the days.

When it came to multiplayer, Kicinski commented that the company is focusing on single-player first and foremost, but that as part of the expansions planned for the game there might be something to play online with or against friends.

He didn’t even rule out battle royale, although multiplayer and online components are still to be discussed internally so it’s very early. There might be something on its way, but that’s not a given after all.

Finally, the president added that there is no “financial incentive” to bringing The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia to Soul Calibur VI, as it is just a promotional operation, and that Nintendo Switch is being considered for the future even though the team hasn’t started to work on anything specific at this stage. Maybe a Gwent port could be a good approach to the platform, we’d say.

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be among the E3 2018 behemoths in June.
