The face of the popular run ’n gun game is getting his own Netflix show.
The Cuphead DLC, “The Delicious Last Course,” may have been delayed, but between the upcoming DLC and this even newer news, fans of the ever-growing franchise have a lot to look forward to.
Today (July 9), Netflix announced that they will be working with King Features Syndicate on an animated show based off of Cuphead that will be called The Cuphead Show!. As one would expect, the show will take on the 1930s-inspired animation style that the game is known for. The show will also be executive produced by Chad and Jared Moldenhauer from the game’s development studio, Studio MDHR. Other talent involved includes Mickey Mouse Shorts writer Dave Wasson as an executive producer and Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling director Cosmo Segurson as a co-executive producer.
According to Netflix, the show will be a “character-driven comedy [that] follows the unique misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman.” There is no word yet on when the show will premiere.
Cuphead was originally released in 2017 for Xbox One and PC to universal acclaim from both critics and fans for its art style, music, and challenging run ‘n gun gameplay. The game was ported to the Nintendo Switch earlier this year, and its first major DLC, “The Delicious Last Course,” is planned for release sometime in 2020.
