Most titles, if relevant enough, will eventually receive a remake. In the form of sequels or new stories, remakes are inevitable in a series. Yet, in an age where developers push the technological envelope, remakes are sometimes warranted. Not just for the sake of having it on a new system. In Crytek’s case, Crysis has always been heralded as a power-hungry title. In 2007, Crysis released on PC during a time when desktops had much less processing power. Thankfully, last year they released Crysis Remastered which sufficiently upgraded the title and graphics to modern standards. Now, it seems that Crytek is taking that step one further by remastering the second Crysis game. A cryptic tweet hinting at some news yesterday has been followed by a full-blown soft announcement. On Twitter, Crytek shared a screenshot of Crysis 2 Remastered showcasing the significantly improved graphics from a true next-gen upgrade.

What Can We Expect From Crysis 2 Remastered?
While the details are sparse as all considered, I’d imagine a true announcement is due soon. With the screenshot only highlighting one of the enemies, the improved visuals are stunning. The original Crysis sequel released towards the end of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 lifespans. Thus, the originals graphics could benefit from 2 generations of improvements in development. With Crytek still hard working on a new Ryse game possibly alongside their next Crysis sequel, the team has plenty in the works. Unfortunately, the studio has been the victim of some data leaks as the title has been speculated about. Thankfully the team feels it’s right to share and tease what’s to come. We can also expect a similar release to Crysis Remastered which launched on a multitude of consoles. While the two games have received upgrades, the question over when Crysis 3 will see the same treatment is still unknown.
