It was only this April that the extremely successful Critical Role Kickstarter ended. After 45 days and an initial goal of $750,000 to bring a single animated episode to life, the end result was over $11 Million and a full animated series. Now, Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham shared an updated from their first Story Summit in a charming video.

They informed fans that over the past few weeks that have worked with the writing team to detail the basics of the story. From this point forward, now that a framework has been established, they will work to flesh out the details. They will also work to decide the final, key members of their animation and writing team and finalize the production schedule.

Riegel and Willingham spearheaded the Story Summit along with the production team. The other members of the cast of Critical Role – Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, and Liam O’Brien – attended in shorter bursts to give their input as well as pertinent information regarding their characters.

The series, titled The Legend of Vox Machina, will contain an original plotline before diving into the beloved Briarwood Arc. This arc will come directly from the previous episodes of Critical Role and deal with gunslinger Percival’s backstory and home. Due to the massive success of the Kickstarter, the full arc will be animated. The cast has teased that if interest continues in the future, they may end up animating the entire Vox Machina storyline that was played out each week as a Dungeons and Dragons Livestream.

The Nerd Stash will continue to closely follow announcements from Critical Role regarding the production and details of the show. Already some rewards for the Kickstarter backers have been given out. The promised Search for Bob Oneshot aired June 21st and sneak previews have been given for their beanie, dice, and messenger bag. More rewards will continue to come in the future as a final build-up to the animated series.
