The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the production of television shows and movies worldwide. Critical Role has just announced its delay of their highly anticipated animated series due to the pandemic.
The Legend of Vox Machina was initially scheduled to be released this fall of 2020. But the current pandemic has delayed this release date, along with some other things associated with the Kickstarter. The cast of Critical Role and the rest of the production crew have still been working remotely, but the pace has slowed down as adjustments have been made. As of now, there is no set release date for the series as things are still in progress.
A few of the Kickstarter reward one-shots have already been completed. Still to come is the Ashley Johnson one-shot, the Vox Machina guest battle royale, and a Vox Machina and Mighty Nein crossover one-shot. There is also a delay on the Kickstarter rewards for backers due to manufacturing delays and the international nature of shipping. These rewards include an art print, dice set, beanie, plushie, canvas messenger bag, and other prizes.
Critical Role has exploded in popularity since it began in early 2015. With their dedicated and ever-growing fanbase watching for updates, including their behind-the-scenes mini-series, it will be a highly anticipated release when The Legend of Vox Machina comes to television.
