Independent publisher Modus Games has teamed up two developers to publish a new title. Cris Tales comes from the minds of developers new to the scene. Dreams Incorporated and SYCK have teamed up to bring gamers a tribute to the JRPG genre. With a spectacular art style paying tribute to games like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, developers may be hoping to draw in die-hard JRPG fans to their title.
While 3D games are immensely popular right now, a few players might prefer something 2D with a touch of cinematic action. And despite the perceived limit in perspective, developers were able to tell a full, enriching story.
The Story of Cris Tales
In the world of Crystallis there exist four kingdoms. Not satisfied with what she had, the Time Empress decided to use her powers to throw the four kingdoms into chaos and usurp the kingdoms for herself. Using the power of experiencing the past, present, and future simultaneously, the young lady will have to fight for everyone’s freedom from the Empress. Only with the help of her companions will the young Crisbell defeat the Time Empress and save the world.
While a person can simply play through and enjoy, each decision should be carefully weighed and measured. As each decision creates ripples, it can be seen in the times you peer into. Will you stay with the decisions you’ve made or attempt to go back and change them?
Cris Tales is 2D adventure RPG set for release on November 17th, 2020. Upon release, it will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. There are also plans for an eventual release to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
