While the Earth gets steamrolled by the Coronavirus, the pandemic might gain some fans as it helps the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Remake get an early release.
When the virus that is taking your friends and family also gives you a game you’ve wanted for so long 2 weeks early, it might seem like a fair tradeoff to some. On a scale of 1 to I’d-sell-my-mother-for-it, the remake has been something that people have clamored for going as far back as the 2005 PS3 tech demo.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is scheduled to drop in two weeks on April 10th. Nonetheless, the street date has been broken and gamers are copping it left and right. This is not an uncommon practice among smaller mom & pop stores but definitely is for big retailers to openly do so.
GameStop broke the street date for Doom: Eternal and Animal Crossing a day early. The retailer said that they wanted to avoid big crowds and comply with CDC regulations. Non-essential” businesses are closing as their doors local government implements policies to curb the fight against COVD-19.
An Unsure Future
The Square post can also refer to places like UK retailer GAME. They are warning customers that FF7 shipments could have a possible two-day delay. The upcoming Resident Evil 3 Remake is also expected to have delays in Europe according to Capcom.
Square Enix said they are going through the process to ensure pre-orders made through their store arrive by April 10th. Redditor NateLo22 posted pictures of the deluxe edition of the game, so if you’d like to wet your appetite without spoilers, here’s a look.
