Today Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is getting a new multiplayer mode called Zombies Onslaught. But as a ‘gotcha’, they also said that the mode will be a timed-exclusive to PlayStation consoles until November 1, 2021. That’s almost one whole year after the game’s launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC! Before you grab the pitchfork and torch though, relax, Zombies Onslaught is not the same as the traditional Zombies mode.

COD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies Onslaught is a brand new two-player co-op mode. It combines the fast-paced gameplay of PVP multiplayer maps with their signature Zombies experience. Dropping in with your very own custom load-outs, you and your partner will be confined to a specific space on the map by the Dark Aether Orb where the undead will begin spawning. Killing the zombies will power the Orb. And while you’re inside the Orb, you won’t take Dark Aether damage. When you have killed enough zombies, the Orb will move. Watch the Zombies Onslaught quick overview trailer below.

As you clear out more enemies and the Orb gains power surge, deadlier zombies, as well as the much more dangerous ‘Elites’, are let out into the wild. You should focus on them not just because they are harder to take down and can easily incapacitate you, but by the end of the match, you will receive either a Bronze, Silver, or Gold ranking based on the number of Elites both of you can defeat. By achieving a specific rank, you will unlock rewards for use across Zombies and Multiplayer. Similar to other multiplayer game modes, with each season, new maps and rewards will be introduced for COD: Black Ops Cold War Zombies Onslaught as well.
