This Wednesday was the red carpet premiere for Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 5. The popular series starring 80s originals Ralph Macchio and William Zabka got so many fans returning for more from the Karate Kid movies. But now, with more than a few seasons under its belt and a series changing switch from YoutubeRed to Netflix, the newer stars of Cobra Kai are gaining fame with a younger audience. Now both the original stars and the new characters are achieving even more star power as Cobra Kai fever spreads across the nation. One star of the Cobra Kai Season 5 cast in particular, has recently gained a lot of star power, Xolo Maridueña. Xolo stars as Miguel Diaz, one of the main characters and a fan favorite in the Cobra Kai series. With gained fame from the series transferring on Netflix and gaining hundreds and thousands of more fans, the talented 21-year-old actor  has received new opportunities and doors opening for him. Something Xolo Maridueña always dreamed of was starring as Blue Beetle in DC, a dream which is now a reality.

Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña Historical Role as Blue Beetle

At the Cobra Kai Season 5 premiere, Xolo Maridueña spoke to news outlet Variety about his role outside the Karate Kid spinoff world in DC as Blue Beetle. When asked about his superhero role, Xolo responded that when he first stepped into the suit, there was “a lot of nerves and exhilaration” that happened while transforming into the character of Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle. Xolo also said the following about Blue Beetle and his happiness about the role,

Blue Beetle will be the first Latino-lead superhero movie, and Xolo is thrilled to be a part of this historical film.

Blue Beetle is projected to release next year on August 18th, 2023.
