Rumors suggest Konami might be planning to remaster the classic Metal Gear Solid games for modern consoles. The Metal Gear franchise is one of the cornerstones of the entire gaming industry. Hideo Kojima’s Magnum Opus has influenced storytelling and game design in numerous ways. The legendary series has gone dark since its fifth installment (let us assume Metal Gear Survive never happened).

Since Kojima’s falling out with Konami, the IP has gone radio silent regarding new releases. There were rumblings of a Metal Gear Solid Remake, but those came and went without confirmation. But it seems the series may not be getting a new installment, but just a remaster for the older games in the series.

Rumors Of A Classic Metal Gear Solid Remaster

The rumor was brought up by VGC, with industry insider AestheticGamer corroborating the rumor with additional details. It was reported that Konami would be showing up at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. While that in and of itself shouldn’t be a big deal, it was soon confirmed that the company is bringing a “beloved franchise” back.

(2/2) heard about it), I’ve had it from an 100% source and not. The plan is to release the three remasters seperately, but also together as a collection (where also get the MSX versions of Metal Gear 1+2 if buy together). Just chiming in there, that is something coming.

While initially thought to be Silent Hill or maybe even Castlevania, it looks like the Metal Gear Solid games series the company is referring to. An announcement of this scale would be more appropriate for the Video Game Awards by the end of this year. But Konami’s presence at TGS is thought-provoking, to say the least. AestheticGamer has been accurately reporting Japanese gaming news for a while, especially about the Resident Evil franchise. His backing up the VGC reports and saying Metal Gear Solid 1, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be getting remakes makes it much more plausible.

He also said the three games would be available as separate purchases and a collection. Reports of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater being remade at Virtuos had also made the rounds. If nothing else, the classic Metal Gear Solid franchise is returning in one form or another.
