The official Avatar News Twitter page has confirmed that a brand-new Avatar book series, Chronicles of the Avatar, is currently in development. Continuing off of the popular novels focusing on the life of character Avatar Kyoshi – The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi – the new book series will further extend the concept behind these tales to tell more stories focusing on past avatars. While it has not been confirmed which Avatars will be focused on next, it is possible that books focusing on Roku, who lived before Aang, or Kuruk, who only made a brief appearance in the Kyoshi novels, will appear in the series.

The Kyoshi novels themselves will now be known simply as Chronicles of the Avatar Book 1 and Chronicles of the Avatar Book 2 respectively, and all official online listings for the two Kyoshi books will be updated with these new titles. The success of the novels made it clear that the book series would likely continue into the future, perhaps as part of the larger set of projects to be produced under the wing of Avatar Studios, in addition to upcoming films and animation projects, but this is the first confirmation of what’s to come.
Each new entry will likely be released under the ‘Chronicles’ moniker rather than being categorized under a different series for each Avatar, but only time will tell. This is not to be confused with the book An Avatar’s Chronicle, which follows characters from the Legend of Korra sequel series, relaying their adventures through its four seasons in a sort of scrapbook format, complete with letters, pictures, secondary character information, worldbuilding, and more.
