Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination was a surprise, but since the Academy announced their decision to review it, actress Christina Ricci was unhappy and slammed them in a since-deleted post. British star Riseborough played the lead role in an indie film, “To Leslie.” With her expertise, she had no problem bringing her character to life.
Riseborough starred as a woman battling drug and alcohol addiction after winning the lottery. However, she unrelentingly tries to create a more organized life for herself when the opportunity presents itself.
The 2022 film racked up $27,000 at the box office and scored 7.1 on IMDb and a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the ratings, Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination was unexpected.
Sources claimed that the film’s director Michael Morris might have made “well-placed calls.” In November, Charlize Theron hosted a screening of the film, and earlier this year, Gwyneth Paltrow hosted her own. In no time, it became a must-do among celebrities, including Edward Norton, Howard Stern, Demi Moore, Jamie Lee Curtis, Helen Hunt, and Susan Sarandon.
Among the list of celebrities who celebrated the film, highlighting that Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination should be granted, was Cate Blanchett. Blanchett sang the actress’s praise at the Critics Choice Award Show after winning the Best Actress award.
Interestingly, this Riseborough rose to an Oscar nomination list. But the celebration was short-lived as the Academy noted that all nominations would be reviewed.

Christina Ricci unhappy with Oscars After Having Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination up for Review
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was not specific about the movie star who would receive a review, but they announced it three days after the nominations. According to a statement from the body:
The statement included their support for the grassroots campaign while they expressed confidence in their voting and nomination procedure. But not everyone is buying their concerns. Christina Ricci labeled the Academy “elitist and exclusive.” Tue actress went on a rant in a sick deleted post.
She insinuated that the review was an attack on Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination, adding that it was because money was not used to put the actress on the list. Ricci noted that she was not campaigning for the actress but that this move from the Oscars would taint the nomination.
In continuity, she maintained that if Riseborough loses the nomination slot, then shame on the Academy.
