After 11 years as Thor, the character who broke Chris Hemsworth through the stratosphere, he has a look at a possible return and end to the God of Thunder. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he gives some hints as to what would bring him back and examines the conclusion of his charming hero.
At 39 years old, the actor has had quite the arc for Thor as Chris Hemsworth started in a more traditional fantasy direction and now is one of the most emotionally complex characters in the MCU while also rivaling some of the funniest heroes. He is open to coming back after this year’s Love and Thunder “if there is something unique and fresh and unexpected to do with the character and world.”
Chris Hemsworth open to a return as Thor, and end of the character
Since Endgame, we have seen characters make their exits and others being reworked in entirely new ways. We have seen the deaths of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), the death and unexpected rework of Vision (Paul Bettany), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) going to have a non-superhero life, and the villainous turn of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). Now, Chris Hemsworth is thinking about the end of Thor.
If anyone knows, it would be Marvel boss Kevin Feige. We have gaps in Phase 6, and the studio has had a history of changing announced plans, so we can see the God of Thunder return anywhere. For now, we have no confirmation of when we will see him next. As an Avenger, we will likely see him in either The Kang Dynasty, Secret Wars, or both of the next Avengers movies. If someone were to die, then it would likely be during a climactic fight against the latest big bad, Kang (Jonathan Majors).
