Chris Brown won an award at the American Music Awards (AMAs) 2022, but things took an unexpected turn. The crowd booed the male R&B artist because he was not in attendance at the American music awards.

However, Kelly Rowland gave an acceptance speech on behalf of the Beautiful People star and also defended him.

Kelly Rowland Shunned Audience Who Booed Chris Brown

The Destiny’s Child alum has always been a die-hard supporter of Chris Brown, and she came to his defense at the AMAs. The 33-year-old earlier took to Instagram to hit back at the AMAs for canceling his Michael Jackson tribute performance.

Not only was the cancellation without reason, but the show producers have yet to address the sudden cancellation. However, at Sunday’s AMA award presentation, Kelly Rowland announced the nominees of the award, which included Brent Faiyaz, Giveon, and Lucky Daye alongside the singer Chris Brown.

Rowland announced Chris Brown as the award winner, but he was not in attendance. This stirred audible Boeing from the crowd. However, PageSix revealed that the 41-year-old was surprised but continued with her presentation. The songstress received the award on behalf of the R&B singer and scolded the audience who booed the Heartbreak On A Full Moon crooner.

Amidst the booing from the crowd. Rowland said, “Excuse me, chill out. I want to thank Chris Brown for making a great R&B singer and an incredible performer. I’ll take this award, bring it to you. I love you, congratulations.”

Brown Has Been On Fire After Alleged Violence Against Women

The Under The Influence singer was accused of assaulting Rihanna in 2009. He was also accused of domestic violence and hitting a woman in 2021. The investigation into these was dropped, and this was because there was not enough evidence to prove he was guilty.

According to Page Six, in 2020, the Look At Me Now singer was sued for allegedly drugging and raping a woman. The case was also dropped by the court because the accuser could not provide evidence to prove their claims of the alleged rape.
