Not everyone had a fun time last week watching Detective Pikachu. A showing at the Guzzo Marche Central cinema in Montreal made a mistake and accidentally had the horror movie The Curse of La Llorona playing instead of Detective Pikachu.
The biggest hint for parents that something was amiss was the horror movie trailers going on before the start of the film. Unfortunately, despite the trailers, the beginning of the movie was shown, and the children were forced to watch the opening scene of The Curse of La Llorona.
Before the movie had started, some of the children had already begun to cry from what was going on during the trailers.
The opening sequence is a mother drowning her children. A perfect start for a horror movie, but children, it’s horrible for them to watch and hopefully parents got them out of there before things continued.
As the movie continued to play, the cinema staff were made aware of the situation and shut the movie off. Everyone from that theater went to another where Detective Pikachu was legitimately playing.
It’s unknown if any of the moviegoers had their money returned or not, or if they were able to see Detective Pikachu in its entirety.
