One of the most undervalued games of the last couple generations, Child of Light, isn’t getting a sequel anytime soon, or at least this is what the creative director believes.

That’s quite a shame since the same person, Ubisoft Montreal’s Patrick Plourde, had shared a tweet back in the days when the Switch port was announced where he had a document on his desk with the title “Child of Light II.”

From what he told VGC, Plourde worked on the creative side of a prequel to the existing game, which was contained in that 4-5 pages document. Anyway, he regrets doing that tease as the project won’t get the green light from Ubisoft.

“I know the major beats, the location, and that it would feature multiple protagonists,” he told the website about what the next game could be like.

“It would have two protagonists going on different paths in life with different motivations, linked by their friendship.”

“I don’t know if there’s a Child of Light 2 that is in production, Ubisoft is big, but I’m not working on it,” he added about the chances that a new game could be in the making without his involvement, which we believe is highly unlikely.

“Right now, I don’t think there’s a Child of Light 2 being produced… I’m not holding my breath,” Plourde shared, even though he thinks that with a live-action series in the making at Ubisoft that could convince the company to produce one more game based on the IP.

Hopefully, this is what is going to happen at a certain point, since CoL was a true gem and one that rarely gets out of triple-A publisher’s offices.
