Are You Chicken Enough?
Things are about to get weird in Clawville. The dynamic duo of Sonny Featherland and Marty McChicken, also known as the “Chicken Police,” is handed a very curious case that sends them down a path of intrigue and absurdity.
Chicken Police is an upcoming noir buddy-cop adventure with development from The Wild Gentlemen and publishing by HandyGames. Featuring heavy dialogue that infuses elements from the visual adventure storytelling genre, the Chicken Police will follow a George Orwell-esque universe with the titular pair discovering clues and crimes.
The game’s official teaser trailer showcases the black-and-white shadiness of Clawville. Several characters are mildly explored, with that old-school jazz ensemble sound accompanying the game’s film-noir style. The ridiculousness of the Chicken Police is openly presented, too, with charming lines of dialogue and a voiceover that replicates that movie trailer voice we’ve all heard and recognized over the years.
Chicken Police was originally envisioned with a classic pixel-art style. The developers soon decided to create Chicken Police with photorealistic characters and settings, with actual photos of animals being taken for the game. Natasha, the featured cat in the game, received a proper photoshoot.
When asked why chickens were chosen for the primary characters, co-founder, director, writer, and designer Bálint Bánk Varga said:
The original release was set for March 20 of this year, but evidently, there was a change of plans. Chicken Police is now arriving next month on November 5, and it will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. A Nintendo Switch version for the game will be arriving at a later time. A demo can now be downloaded through the game’s Steam page.
