The 76-year-old If I Could Turn Back Time singer announced the news of her mother’s passing on Twitter on Saturday morning. Cher tweeted her “mom is gone” accompanied by a sad face emoji. Her spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, also confirmed the news to the Washington Post on Sunday but did not add additional information.

Cher opened up about her mother’s health three months ago on her social media platform. The actress had tweeted about how she was sorry about just disappearing from social media.

The award winner explained that her mother had been hospitalized with Pneumonia and had just gotten out of the hospital. Later, the musician followed up her tweet with a reassurance that her mother was “getting better.”

The media personality had previously opened up to People about her mother’s health. Cher had told the news outlet that she had always been careful with her mother, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who Was Cher’s Mother, Georgia Holt?

Holt was a singer, actress, model, and the mother of the famous musician, Cher. Holt was born in Arkansas in 1926 to 13-year-old Lynda Inez Gulley and 21-year-old Roy Malloy Crouch. Holt was taught by her father how to play the guitar and sing at a young age. The actress/singer was very talented.

After moving to Los Angeles, Holt landed prominent roles in movies. She starred in Watch the Birdie, I Love Lucy, and many others. The late star also appeared on The Mike Douglas Show and The Merv Griffin Show. In 2013, the singer released her debut album Honky Tonk Woman, which she recorded in the ’80s.

Cher has always shown her admiration for her mother, Holt. In 2013, the songstress made a documentary, Dear Mom, Love Cher. This documentary showed Holt’s life from when she was little and the story surrounding her family.
