Chelsea Handler wants to return to being a late-night talk show host and has The Daily Show within her sights. The comedian said recently on The Daily Beast podcast The Last Laugh that she has been seriously pitching herself for that job. Handler is already one of many guest hosts for The Daily Show. Chelsea Handler previously played host to two of her own late-night talk shows Chelsea, The Chelsea Handler Show, and Chelsea Lately. She has the perfect resume to take over the hosting gig. The star has noted that there is a lack of women in late-night television. The comedian wants to be on The Daily Show because she “likes the vibe” of it and feels that she can cover a wider range of topics with it. She feels she’ll be able to do even more things than she had with Chelsea Lately.

“All these late-night hosts are great, but they’re not representing us. Women represent women,” Handler said regarding the lack of women as late-night talk show hosts. When she was a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, it relit her “spark” to want to return to late-night television. The comedian remarked on her disinterest to take over for James Corden on The Late Late Show because its timeslot is not to her liking. The Daily Show timeslot and how the series is more appealing to Handler. She shared her distaste for the cancellation of the series Full Frontal With Samantha Bee. The veteran late-night talk show host wants to make a return to television in a big way and help be the representation that women need. Handler wants Paramount to give her serious consideration in taking over hosting duties on The Daily Show.
