The hunt for 007 continues from producers, but that does not stop people from wishing for certain stars to step into the shoes of the spy. Since starring in the new spy series Treason, fan casting for Charlie Cox to be James Bond has gone wild. In an interview with NME, the Daredevil actor weighed in on the opportunity to take on the iconic character. If you were hoping it would be a resounding yes, but sorry to disappoint, it is a no.
Charlie Cox plays an MI6 agent in Treason, making it seem fitting for him to be James Bond. If you look at how he is able to do action and be a lady’s man through his time as Daredevil, then the thought makes sense. For him, he thinks “they should do something different” in reference to not having another white man in the role.
Charlie Cox not interested in being James Bond, despite fan casting
From the next 007, we know that producers won’t have a young 20-something, as the character should have enough experience under his belt. Conversations over the years, even during Craig’s tenure, have ranged across the board. Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, and more have been in the conversation. Either way, they will have to be committed for at least a decade.
Charlie Cox will be too busy to be James Bond with his time as Daredevil. Born Again, his Disney+ series will film from February 2023 to December 2023. On top of that, he will be in the series Echo along with any secret places Marvel Studios wants the character to appear. Having a possible ten-year or longer character on top of another decade commitment is unreasonable. At least fans will be able to see him get into action, even if it is not as the iconic spy.
