The battle of Triangle Strategy’s Chapter IX, Part II: To Desert’s End unfolds in the Valley of Dunes, where your party will be attacked en route to deliver the truth to the Heirophant. A new battle, The Battle of Booker’s Brigade, will commence once you choose your units. To win, “decimate the enemy forces.” To lose, see every one of your units perish.

Unit Selection and Battle Strategy

Much of the Valley of Dunes is cliffside terrain, so hand-to-hand combat will be more difficult to execute than ranged attacks with arrows or magic. Bring units that will have no problem scaling cliffs. Hughette’s flying capabilities, Anna’s Surmount ability, and Jens’ talent for building ladders will all help tremendously in this fight. Erador’s Ram Foe ability is useful for pushing enemy forces off the cliffs.

You may consider using Medina or Piccoletta by this point in the story. Piccoletta specializes in offensive items, and she has the cool ability to make a copy of herself that can move, distract, and attack on its own. Medina’s ability to use healing items at heightened potency twice in one turn, from a distance, is also extremely useful.

Defeat Booker, then focus on the rest

The battle will commence with your party on much lower terrain than the enemy units. Above you on your left are two Hyzantian bowmen, two Rogues, one Blade, and one Healer—all at level 14. On the right side, you have two Bowmen, two Blades, two Shieldbeaers, and a Rogue, also at level 14. Booker, level 16, looks down on you directly from the cliff ahead. He can poison you, so make sure you have enough Poison Recovery Pellets.

It’s best to make your way up the right side. Take on Booker from the beginning to get him out of the way, and be particularly wary of the two Bowmen perched on the stage’s left side. Be ready with your healing items or spells, especially offensive ranged spells. If you have Ezana by this point, her ability to make it rain followed up with a thunder attack could electrocute multiple enemy units at once and give you a serious upper hand.

Along with saving, consider leveling your characters to the recommended 14 using the Mental Mock Battles at the Encampment. Use the spoils, especially from Hossabara’s latest available battle, to upgrade the weapon ranks of your strongest fighters.
