The Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 private demo was meant to leave a long-term mark on journalists and players, and it ultimately did, although we’ve not been able to watch it in action yet.
Anyway, the road ahead is still very, very long as CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the footage which has been showcased behind a closed door was a vertical slice the development team had cut from a pre-alpha version.
“No, earlier. Therefore, we show the game behind closed doors – this is not the final quality yet,” CEO Marcin Iwinski said when asked about whether the game was in an alpha stage already.
“This is the most polished part of the game we have now, prepared in some sense to show it to people outside the company,” he then added, hinting at the fact that CDPR really wanted to offer select press members and invited people something to reassure them the game is alive and kicking.
Curiously, though, talking with Youtuber YongYea, Cyberpunk 2020 suggested there’ll be a little more patience to bear when it comes to properly put our hands on the title.
“I’ve waited 30 years to get this, it was worth it. You guys can wait a few more years,” Mike Pondsmith told the Youtuber, also remarking that he is very satisfied with what he has seen thus far.
Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but hasn’t been given a release date or window yet.
