A new console generation often means old games get a new coat of paint on a fancy next-generation machine. While newer games get that treatment, some studios decide on even older releases. CD Projekt Red has always been committed to bringing its gaming experiences to new places. Yet, with the fumble of Cyberpunk 2077 on launch, many were hesitant when considering CDPR. Even if the project was detached, fans were worried about the progress of the title. PlayStation pulled the PS4 game from the online library to dissuade customers from further purchasing the game. After some time, CDPR released a next-generation patch bringing the title to Xbox Series X and PS5. However, while many expected The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to be alongside their PS5 titles, there have unfortunately been delays. Now, after much time, CD Projekt Red has finally confirmed its intention to have The Witcher 3 next-gen patch released by the end of 2022.

Let’s make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we?

We’re delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned to release in Q4 2022.

What Would The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Look Like On Next Generation Consoles?

While the game might not receive too much in terms of gameplay adjustments, graphically there should be improvements. There are spectacular-looking Witcher graphics that consoles have not yet been able to recreate. Finally, with a new console generation, comes the chance to take older games to a new height. Thanks to the power in the new consoles, The Witcher 3 could finally run on consoles in native 4k. While this was achievable through the PS4 Pro, the quality was significantly less detailed than the same areas on a PC. These experiences will finally match up when Witcher 3 next-gen releases near the end of the year.
