Full-bodied wines have a rich, complex, well-rounded flavor that lingers in the mouth

Catherine: Full Body, last year’s reimagining of the 2011 cult classic Catherine, will be receiving a Nintendo Switch port this summer! Originally a PS3 exclusive title, Atlus’ Catherine is an action-adventure puzzler influenced by classic anime art style and design.

For those unfamiliar with the narrative, players follow Vincent, a young professional dreadfully fearful of commitment. His longtime partner, Katherine, begins to show interest in taking the next step. Marriage? A baby? This is all too much for the game’s anti-hero. As Vincent clumsily weighs his looming decisions he falls victim to temptation. One night with Catherine, this time with a “C”, sends Vincent into a spiral.  The looming question for players will be, what’s going to happen next?

Luckily for Switch owners, they’ll be able to experience Vincent’s story first-hand come July 7.

Puzzle lovers rejoice

The meat and potatoes of Catherine: Full Body is its fast action puzzles. Every night Vincent experiences a sequence of recurring nightmares. Every dream is chock full of intricate block-climbing challenges, each more punishing than the last. On top of that, monsters from his subconscious and other dreamers will provide additional uncertainty for Vincent. Climb fast and efficiently and he’ll make it out alive. If not, escape is only a restart button away.

More than a re-master. More than a port.

Atlus could’ve gotten away with a simple re-polish. Yet, the developer went above and beyond. The Full Body edition features an entirely new character. Meet Rin!

Suffering from amnesia, Rin’s backstory is a blur. Rin provides a refreshingly innocent piece to the hazardous puzzle that is Vincent’s love life. It seems Rin may have some connection to Vincent’s recurring nightmares. But then again, maybe not at all.

On top of a brand new character, Atlus will be giving Switch players a plethora of additional content. Players will find several new and re-mastered music tracks within the game’s jukebox. Pre-order copies will receive a playable character set for Joker, of Persona 5, as well as in-game horned rimmed glasses.

Not for the faint of heart

Catherine: Full Body is a soapbox drama wrapped into a puzzle game and calling its content mature is an understatement. You’ll split time between rooting for Vincent’s survival at night and questioning every decision he makes during the day. This game is not for the faint of heart. It challenges you to question your own beliefs and forces you into uncomfortable situations. What path will you send Vincent down? Will you be Team Catherine or Team Katherine? Find out this July 7 on Nintendo Switch.
