Captain Lee Rosbach, who has been at the helm of the Bravo series Below Deck since its 2013 debut, announced his exit from the show due to his dilapidating health. The TV personality went public with the news during Monday’s episode of the yachting series.
According to him, his health condition has persisted for a while. However, he believed an improvement was tenable, hence his decision to board the boat for the 10th season of his reality show. Sadly, the recent prognosis of the legendary captain, nicknamed “The Stud of the Sea,” made it apparent he needed to quit and focus on his health.
Below Deck Captain Lee Rosbach Shared Shocking Health Details Before His Exit
While the exit of Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck certainly took fans by surprise, it’s been a long time coming. Announcing his exit, the 73-year-old revealed he struggled with nerve issues even before boarding the boat when the charter season began filming. Admittedly, he hoped the symptoms would subside as his days on the motor yacht St. David progressed. Sadly, that was never to be the case. He divulged:
Elsewhere in the episode, Captain Lee Rosbach spoke about his exit and the surrounding circumstances with Below Deck chef Rachel Hargrove. He described the whole experience as one of the most humbling of his life.
Captain Rosbach Exited The Series To Honor His Team
In his confessional, Captain Lee Rosbach admitted leaving Below Deck following his health update was something he owed to his crew. The star admitted the pain kept worsening, which could ultimately hinder his maximum performance. Hence, he resolved to do the right thing as his crew expected of him. He reflected:
Later in the episode, Rosbach assembled his crew members for an all-hands meeting, where he dropped the bombshell. He explained how much difficulty he faced while struggling with his mobility. The captain then apologized to the crew members for letting them down.
Certainly, Rosbach’s exit at the midpoint of season 10 would create a void in the Bravo yachting series. Hopefully, whoever steps up to take his place, albeit impromptu, would lead the crew with the same charisma and dexterity with which the esteemed captain did throughout his stint on Below Deck. Meanwhile, one can only hope the Stud of the Sea finds his ideal nesting spot onshore to aid his swift recovery.
