Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad might be DC’s next movies in their DC Cinematic Universe, but we also have a Wonder Woman movie on the horizon with a scheduled release date of June 23, 2017. Still a couple years out, not much is known about the movie other than it will see the return of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins will be directing the film. Other little details have been rumored, but now it appears we may have our second casting for the movie with the lead male role of Steve Trevor supposedly being cast.
Steve Trevor has had a number of different origins over the year, but the original had him crash landing on what was known as Paradise Island at the time. This was essentially the version shown off in the Wonder Woman animated movie in 2009. The most recent version had Trevor as the US government liason to Wonder Woman that eventually became the head of A.R.G.U.S. Trevor has always had about as close a tie to Wonder Woman as any other, especially when involving her origins, so there was little doubt he’d show up in the Wonder Woman solo movie.
Many have wanted Pine in a comic book movie for awhile now, with many pushing for him to play Hal Jordan or someone similar. Trevor is definitely a good fit for him and would be a veteran star to help promote the movie alongside the less experienced Gadot. This also pretty much deconfirms rumors that Scott Eastwood was playing Trevor in the Suicide Squad movie, which makes us wonder just who he could be playing now.
