“He was not well. As Dorinda [Medley] would say, ‘Not well, bitch,’” Candiace spoke of her husband after he became the subject of unsubstantiated gossip perpetuated on The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 7.
Candiace, speaking with Page Six on the Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, mentioned that the picture Gizelle Bryant painted of Chris destabilized him. Gizelle earlier alleged that Chris made her feel “completely uncomfortable” during a private conversation with him backstage at the RHOP Season 6 reunion.
Gizelle also told this to Candiace after a group dance class that aired in October, leaving the latter perplexed.
However, Candiace revealed that several people stood in the chef’s defense, claiming he didn’t do it. Unfortunately, a few still believed the accusations leveled against him.
The 36-year-old disclosed that Chris is in a better place now, although he was “very hurt” by Gizelle’s slander. Candiace expressed her frustrations about headlines insinuating that her husband is a sexual predator living online forever.

The singer didn’t hesitate to defend her husband after he was first accused as she extracted a recusal from Gizelle. The latter admitted that Chris did not exhibit predatory conduct at the reunion, and Candiace spoke directly to producers and camera operators present for the scene.
The former beauty pageant queen called Gizelle out for attacking her husband and warned producers not to mess with him.
The actress also spoke of her on-camera exchange with Gizelle likening it to a “rehearsed Broadway show that sold two tickets.”
Candiace, who wed Chris in August 2018, does not seem to have a relationship with her co-star after this incident.
This is not the first time Chris Bassett has been entangled in such gossip. RHOP star Ashley Darby also claimed that Chris sent her an inappropriate Instagram message late at night.
However, the chef invited the TikTok enthusiast and her friend to stop by the rooftop bar he manages in Washington, DC. Meanwhile, Ashley’s friend also alleged that he made a pass at her when filming for season 7 started. Consequently, Candiace’s budding relationship with Ashley grounded to a halt.

Candiace said her co-stars had to trend or be unemployed, so they resorted to scripted roles to keep their seats on the Bravo franchise. She also offered them auditions for extra roles on Hush Season 2 if they were interested in acting.
