At the beginning of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, you are asked to choose a House to join, similarly to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. However, it is not a secret that none of these three Houses are perfect—all of them have glaring weaknesses that can be covered by recruiting another capable member of an adjacent House.

The good news is that you can still recruit characters in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. In fact, you can do so as early as post-prologue. However, unlike the recruitment process in Fire Emblem: Three House, you don’t have to shower people with gifts and raise their support rank to get an invite. Most units, barring the obvious House leaders and their loyal attendants, can be recruited during main missions where an opposing House is an enemy.

How to recruit characters from other Houses in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

To do so, you’d have to complete side missions to earn strategy resources. These missions can be taken once you have finished the main mission in an area. Strategy resources can then be used before a main mission to persuade certain units to join your team.

Certain units, such as Rodrigue, will also naturally join your army as part of a certain route. Byleth and a surprise character can also be recruited down the line, as long as you avoid engaging Byleth in a main mission and miss your chance to slay the Ashen Demon. Affection and support levels can be built after a unit has been recruited. You can raise it via gifting them their favorite items, training with them, or pairing with them in battle.
