You can control a lot about your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can place your tents, and eventually, turn them into houses. You can chop down trees and grow plants. You even need to make other buildings like shops and museums.

Laying out your island in a pleasing manner is a lot of fun, and cultivating it to really look like a home is the aim of the game. You might be wondering if you can move Residents Services, as it takes up a lot of space between the tent and the plaza area. At the time of writing, with some 80 hours or so under our belt, we have not been able to move it, so it doesn’t look like it will be an option in the game.

After you upgrade Resident Services from a humble tent to a building, you will be able to move buildings on the island by choosing the “Let’s talk infrastructure” option when chatting with Tom Nook. You can move almost everything on the island, but you won’t get the option to move Resident Services.

At the moment, it is best to think about Resident Services as the very heart of your island and plan the rest of it around that. That way, you can hopefully place most of your building and decorations without the need to move too many of them later, as that can get expensive.
