Birch trees in Valheim provide fine wood, some of the best wood available that you’ll use in a lot of your recipes. You’ll primarily use it in several stronger items when you receive the dragon tear from the fourth Forsaken boss, Moder, and even a few recipes before that when you’re investigating the Swamp and Mountains biome. But these trees are not easily found.
You can plant beech, fir, and pine trees near your home to have a steady supply of trees that you won’t have to hunt for, but can you locate birch seeds to do the same thing? Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do that. Whenever you cut down a birch tree, you’ll receive basic and fine wood from the logs you break down. But none of these trees have yielded any seeds that would you to create a small woody pasture right next to your doorstep.
You’ll have to go out of your way to find these trees in a Meadow, or if you’re brave enough, set up an outpost in the Plains biome to making them significantly easier. The problem with this is how dangerous the creatures will be in the Plains. You have to be on the lookout for fulings, the goblin-like creatures that patrol at night, or the deathsquitos that can chase you down in a matter of seconds. Even the tamable loxes are dangerous if you get too close and anger them.
There are plenty of rewards by adventuring in the Plains, and they’re worth your time. Setting up an outpost here after you defeat the fourth Forsaken boss, Moder, is something very much recommend. But if you’re still struggling to get to this point, you’ll want to steer clear of these locations. Most of the enemies here can kill you with a single hit.
Regardless, in Valheim, you cannot find or plant any birch seeds. They are not available. This item could release as the game continues its progression into its development, but we don’t know.
