Rockstar Games have made the news for their game launcher crashing, and it would seem that this isn’t the first time this has happened. When the launcher is out of order, it affects all of the games associated with it, such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.

Unfortunately, you cannot play the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy - Definitive Edition offline. The launcher is attached to an online system, meaning if the launcher isn’t working then there is no way to access your game offline.

Many people have noted that having an online launcher attached to single player, campaign games is not the best of ideas for instances like these where maintenance issues render the launcher unusable.

For games such as GTA Online, and Red Dead Online an online launcher is understandable, but when you have GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition’s story modes attached to it, it is only cause for disappointment.

Many players have suggested that Rockstar should let Steam handle their games again, so that launcher problems are taken out of the equation. Whether or not Rockstar will hand their catalogue back over to the third-party games store remains to be seen.
