Under Microsoft’s widening umbrella of indie titles coming to their platforms, there’s Call of the Sea from Raw Fury and Out of the Blue. This beautiful looking indie title has been in development for quite some time, proving to be a better and better adventure title with each reveal. It’s one I’ve personally been excited to play through, especially with its promise of a rich story and stunning setpieces. Today, we can finally see if those promises come true. Call of the Sea is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. You can check out the breathtaking launch trailer below.
Call of the Sea tells the story of Norah, a charming young woman who recently came under an affliction with an unknown cure. Her husband went on an expedition to find a cure, only for him and his expedition crew to go missing. As such, Norah has come to these remote islands in the South Pacific to find both him and this cure. It’s the least she can do for attempting to save her life. Throughout your adventures on this island, you’ll uncover vast remnants of an ancient civilization, along with beautiful setpieces to enthrall you at every turn. The question is though, will you be able to find and save your husband?
This emotional journey looks to offer a lot both visually and in gameplay through various adventure mechanics. There’s a variety of puzzles to solve, so you should find no shortage of enjoyment on this adventure. Given my love for games like A Story About My Uncle, I imagine I’ll find myself falling in love with what Call of the Sea is offering. I just need to find time in between Cyberpunk 2077 to do so.
