Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out right now, and you can check it out on several different platforms. Luckily, you don’t have to limit yourself to a single platform thanks to Infinity Ward getting cross-play enabled immediately at launch. Everyone can play together. However, those using an Xbox One X have been experiencing issues. The game is supposedly crashing players who are playing from this console. Here’s what we know about it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crashes Xbox One X – Here’s What We Know
When Xbox One X players jump into the game, they may find their gameplay freezes on them or the console itself crashes. It can happen at any time during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare experience. There’s no set condition or procedure for it to occur in, it’s going to happen out of the blue and ruin a player’s day.
However, we regret to inform Xbox players that there’s no workaround for this issue. At this time, Infinity Ward does not have a solution for it. But rest assured, they are on seeing to this issue and already working on a fix.
Here’s the Infinity Ward tweet from their official tweet account regarding the problem:
We are seeing a small number of Xbox One X players experience crashes with Modern Warfare. We are already working on a fix. Thanks for your patience and feedback. We will keep you posted.

The development team has had most of the weekend to look into it. If they discover a solution, it’s likely going to get patched in sometime early in the week of Oct. 28. Hopefully, we see it before the start of November given the amount of Xbox One X owners have shared they’re having issues with the game. Unfortunately, it does appear to be happening all Xbox One consoles, not only the One X.
If you’re experiencing issues with the game on your Xbox One, it might be better to keep it shut off and wait for a fix. We don’t know how badly the game crashes the system or causes issues to the internal hardware, but it’s better to avoid it in general.
We hope there’s a fix in the future for this problem. If there is, we’re going to report on it and let everyone know when they can safely turn on their consoles.
