According to new reports, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is going to be 2019’s Call of Duty iteration, right one year after the launch of the just announced and properly revealed Black Ops 4.
The game is reportedly in the making at Infinity Ward, the team that built the Modern Warfare series from the ground up bringing the Call of Duty franchise for the first time in a modern setting back in the World War II days.
Based on the information gathered by Gaming Intel and Charlie Intel, there’s an early discussion about the inclusion of a battle royale mode, which – after Blackout’s reveal of Black Ops 4 – is apparently becoming a standard for the brand.
On top of that, though, Modern Warfare is mentioned to be featuring a classic single-player campaign, differently from the approach taken by Treyarch while building the next iteration of the Black Ops series. There would be multiplayer and Zombie modes, too.
Interestingly, there are a few returning faces to the developer. Geoffrey Smith, Joel Emslie, John Mundy, Joshua Dunnam, Mark Grigsby, Ranon Sarono, Dom McCarthy, and Madison Cromwell all returned to Infinity Ward from Respawn Entertainment, which they contributed to found.
Could this mean there’s a new focus on single-player, something these people can really do very, very well, after all that’s happened with Black Ops 4? Who knows: it’s too early to say and, as we won’t be revealed the game at least until next April, it’s the case not to hold our breath on it.
