When Modern Warfare 3 launches this Fall it will be accompanied by a digital subscription based service possibly called Call of Duty: Elite.  The service was called “an integral part” of this year’s Call of Duty experience.  With the online shooter gaining so much popularity in the last few years, analysts are speculating that the service will generate “substantial revenue” for the publisher.  A Janco Partners analyst by the name of Mike Hickey believes that the service will be a success, and also speculates on the features of the service.

“We suspect Beachhead will facilitate an item based sales model for incremental online monetization strategies.  Additional online services through Beachhead could include a more extensive in-game wagering system, competitive leagues/tournaments, community development, exclusive content, traditional Map Pack DLC offerings, and vanity / customization related items,” the analyst said.
