Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has now been out for a week, giving players ample time to get a feel for the latest COD iteration. Through that time, there have been two major complaints among the community. One is on the time for snipers to be able to shoot when moving around the map, which has been abnormally long. The other is the dreaded MP5, which has been tearing up multiplayer matches left and right. Thankfully, today’s Black Ops Cold War update tackles both of those (sort of).

Let’s get the elephant out of the room, shall we? Black Ops Cold War’s MP5 is seeing a significant effective damage range nerf from 15.24m to 10.16m. This means it’ll have less effective damage at mid-range levels, allowing other weapons to step into the fray. There are also tweaks to the initial recoil, which helps things a bit. Unfortunately, this update got reverted unintentionally and will come back in an upcoming update. You MP5 abusers can use it a bit longer, don’t you worry.

There’s also the aforementioned sniping improvements, which sees faster sprint to fire times. This lets those of you in Cold War who like the run and gun sniper playstyle pull off plays a bit more consistently. That’s always a plus, but I do hope the ADS times get tackled in a future update. Other than that, there are significant nerfs to the FFAR, M16, Gallo S12, and several others. These were some pretty powerful weapons, so it’s good to see them coming more in line with the rest of the arsenal.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
