Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sent out an update today, bringing along several quality-of-life fixes along with two new bundles. While this isn’t flashy like a lot of other updates to Black Ops Cold War, it’s nice to have many issues that we’ve been facing out of the way. That and the two new bundles do look pretty sweet. While this has mostly been a good update, many are reporting an issue when trying to access Multiplayer and Zombies on the Xbox version. This error is “Blackout Trial Has Ended”. While Treyarch has yet to fix this issue, there is a temporary fix you can do right now.
How to Fix the Blackout Trial Has Ended Error
To fix this issue, head to “Manage Game & Addons” on your Xbox console. From there, select Black Ops Cold War and check to see the installed items for the game. Check if everything on that list is installed and once done (or installed), restart your game. After that, the Blackout Trial Has Ended error should be fixed and you can get back to playing Black Ops Cold War.
Now, you may be curious as to exactly what caused this. Black Ops Cold War is of course the latest Call of Duty iteration from Treyarch, with their previous title being Black Ops 4. As many are already aware, the Blackout battle royale mode existed in that game. This most likely stemmed from the Blackout trial that was available to play before Black Ops 4’s launch. Some code from that game that included this error likely made its way over to Cold War and conflicted with this latest update. As such, we’re now seeing the widespread concern surrounding this issue.
