Ever since the inception of the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program there have been a certain set of games that fans just keep asking for. Some of these have eventually come out, such as Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, and some Call of Duty games. But others have still eluded fans, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. With so many asking for the game to release, rumors were bound to swirl about when it might come out, but according to Xbox’s Phil Spencer the current ones are wrong, and we won’t see the game for a while.

Black Ops 2 is beloved by millions of gamers, with many clinging to the game despite multiple newer releases in the series. Getting it back in playable form on Xbox One would be great for the community, though it might hurt the player numbers for Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered. Still, it shouldn’t be too bad that Activision will avoid making the game, so now it’s just a matter of waiting for them to get around to it.
