Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is 11 years old now, but it remains one of the best Call of Duty titles in the series. It’s also now available as a backwards compatible title that you can play on Xbox One.

Microsoft just revealed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as the latest game to be added to the seemingly ever-growing list of compatible titles, and it’s about time that it made the list. Modern Warfare is a legendary entry in terms of Call of Duty, especially with its engaging campaign, characters, and fan-favorite multiplayer modes and maps. Infinity Ward’s labor of love was arguably the beginning of a rise to the top when it came to Call of Duty’s massive popularity as a whole, and it ended up selling over 15 million copies. It received several sequels, but the original Modern Warfare is one of the true greats, and it’s not yet been truly replicated.

If you still have your (likely battered and beaten up) copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, this means that you can just pop it into your Xbox One and start playing. If you tossed that a long time ago or have it buried in your closet, you can pick up a digital copy instead, or opt for the 2016 remaster from Activision, which is currently on sale.

If you have to choose, go for the original if you just want to be awash with nostalgia and excellent game design. This is one backwards compatibility addition that should really have been one of the first to be completed. Pew pew!
