PlayStation has recently been on an acquisition streak with many different studios joining the PlayStation Studios. After last year’s Bluepoint and Housemarque acquisition, many saw it as a response to Microsoft’s Xbox acquisitions. While the PlayStation Studios division has been growing, what’s more, interesting is what’s to come from each. While many knows of Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, many other untitled or rumored games lie in wait. Such is the case with Bungie’s unknown next project, the studio behind Destiny and Halo. While Destiny 2 has long since been a mainstay in the live service game market, many are curious about what the studio will do next. While the game has received veritable content updates over the years, many are starting to wonder what’s next. As more and more development studios and indie games push the boundary of multiplayer, Bungie too is leading in that direction. Now, after the January 31st news of the Sony buyout, many fans are eager to know what the studio plans for next. Announced on PlayStation’s Twitter, Bungie has officially become a part of the PlayStation Studios division as the acquisition officially closes.

What Does The PlayStation Bungie Acquisition Mean For Exclusivity?

While the rumor on exclusive Destiny items or armors to PlayStation is unlikely, what might not is their next title. Much like the Blizzard Activision acquisition Xbox recently closed, some titles will more than likely remain cross-platform for some time. Yet, what remains to be seen is how exclusivity is rolled out. While Call of Duty will more than likely begin their own Xbox line in a few years, Bungie may be all in on the PS5 for their next game. While that may be another few years ahead, much of that discussion is ongoing. Be sure to check back for more on the latest news of PlayStation Studios acquiring Bungie.
