The Borderlands movie continues to come together. Deadline has reported that Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story, The Girl on the Train) will play Atlas. While Atlas is a weapons manufacturing company in the games, not a person, Randy Pitchford has clarified. The Gearbox CEO tweeted the news out, stating Ramirez will play Deukalian Atlas, the founder of the Atlas corporation.

While any casting on the next big video game movie is cause for excitement, the news doesn’t stop there. Lionsgate also revealed the official plot synopsis of Borderlands alongside the casting announcement. If you’ve played the games before, some of this will sound a bit familiar.

Borderlands So Far

Edgar Ramirez joins an impressive team for Borderlands. Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) is directing from a script written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, HBO’s The Last of Us). Cate Blanchett is playing Lilith. Kevin Hart will play Roland. Newcomer Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters) will play Tiny Tina. Florian Munteanu (Creed II) will play Krieg. Jamie Lee Curtis is playing Tannis. And Jack Black will voice Claptrap.
